Surprise Anyone!

Are there still ways to surprise clients and employees?  We spend so much time texting, tweeting and emailing it might seem as though the simple act of surprising is a lost or forgotten art.  Thankfully, people still love to open boxes, especially boxes with wonderful treats to share.

Want to make someone feel special? Catch them when they least expect it and send them a thoughtful gift..  Go the extra mile and exceed their expectations. I promise this will help build stronger bonds between you and the people who matter  in your life.

OCTOBER is the perfect month to surprise someone with a BOO-tiful gift to say “thanks for the referral”, “just popped-by to say hello”, “I appreciate all you do for our team” and simply “thank you”.

Take a few minutes to appreciate your clients and employees.

Who Started It?

Who Started It ?

Did you know that Father’s Day was started by a woman?

Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington was inspired by a  Mother’s Day sermon to honor her father William Jackson Smart for single-handedly raising Dodd and her 5 siblings after their mother died.

The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19th, 1910 on the anniversary of William Jackson Smart’s birthday.

Here are some interesting facts from Hallmark about Father’s Day

-Father's Day is the 4th largest card-sending occasion with about 87 million cards given every year.

-Fifty percent of all Father's Day cards are purchased for fathers and almost 15% for husbands.

-Two top-selling categories are "Dad from Daughter" and "Dad From Both."

-Rose is the official flower for Father's Day. Wearing a red rose signifies a living father, while white one represents deceased father.

-Greeting cards make up the number one gift item on the occasion of Father's Day

.-It is estimated that more than one-third of the cards sold on Father's Day are funny in nature.

-Female shoppers spend approximately 50 percent more than men, while buying gifts for their dad.

In 1972, President Richard Nixon signed the permanent law for Father’s Day to be observed on the third Sunday of June.

Father’s Day is on June 21, 2015.  For some great gift ideas, visit www.celebratesweetly.com

Celebrate Father's Day!

How will you celebrate your dad this Father's Day?  Unlike Mother's Day which is centered around us moms,  I think of  Father's Day as more of a family event where we gather to do something fun with dad.

I'm obviously not a dad but I can boldly say from my own experience with my dad that the greatest measure of his fatherhood was knowing that he was loved and that all his children were doing okay.  Even though I can't pick up the phone to call my dad this year, I'm grateful for the gift he gave my siblings and I last year.  You see, on the eve of June 8th, 2014, he called every single one of us and had long and heartfelt conversations. .  We talked about the kids, life and laughed and signed off with a "bye for now".   Little did I know it was bye forever because six hours later, I received the dreaded phone call that he had passed away.  As shocking and unexpected as this was,  he had done what every loving father would do.  He checked in with all his children and had the assurance that we were all okay, I have no doubt that he was at peace.

This Father's Day,  while celebrating my dad in spirit,  I will celebrate my husband, my brothers, my friends,  first time dads and the men who are father figures for so many children out there.

I hope you will also take time to do something fun for the fathers in your life.  Make a call, pop by for a visit,  go fishing, play golf,  simply spend time to let them know how much they are appreciated.

And just in case you're in the mood for more celebrations*, here are a few more dates in June that you can add to your list.
June 3      Repeat Day

Admin Professionals Week

Administrative Professional's Week : April 19-25, 2015 (Admin Professionals Day – April 22)

This was formally known as National Professional Secretaries Week and National Secretary's Day.  Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam created this in 1952 as he recognized that the position was important and valuable to any business.

Klemfuss was a PR expert and his initial goal was to encourage more women to become secretaries.  As a result of promoting the role of secretaries,  he also created the holiday to recognize them.

As we well know, the name has changed over time as the role is no longer gender specific.  Today the term we are most familiar with is Administrative Professionals.  While the name has evolved, the importance of recognizing these “Rock Stars” on your team has not changed.

Some of the most common ways of recognizing your Administrative Professional(s) today are:

  • Flowers
  • Cards, often with shopping gift certificates
  • Assorted Gift Baskets
  • Take them to lunch
  • Chocolates

For assistance with celebrating your Rock Stars, contact Celebrate Sweetly

p.s. You still have a chance to win a $50 gift for your Admin Professional.  Email one sentence to tell us what makes them a Rock Star.  Enter by 5:00pm Friday, April 17, 2015

What's Love Got To Do With It?

Can you believe it’s already February?  I had great plans for January but sadly, it just didn’t happen. Although I didn’t make any resolutions, I thought at the very least, I would send out a few thank you notes.

Thankfully,   I recently heard that January is the new February so I’m going with it.  How about you?  Are you ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day or are you one of the people who somehow forgets that Valentine’s Day is always on February 14th ?

Who is your valentine? Do you only have one valentine? What should you give your valentine?

My answer is that Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to show appreciation to the people you’ve been meaning to thank but haven’t gotten around to it yet.  What about your staff? Your tenants? Did you forget to thank some clients during the holidays? Is there a new prospect that you would like to reach out to?

Here’s one way to get in on the Valentine’s Day train.  Send your existing clients a card or a small gift with the message “Love doing business with you”.  To your prospects send a small gift with the message “would love to do business with you”.

As my mentor Debbie Quintana always says  “Your clients don’t wake up every morning thinking about you.  You have to remind them that you are here”.

Love has everything to do with it.  If you love what you do and your clients love what you do for them,  you have found the perfect match.

If you would like some help with gift ideas, we would be glad to help.  805-751-6177 or gifts@celebratesweetly.com

Happy Valentine’s, now go on and spread some love.
